Experience the wonders

To mark the centenary of the first Egypt gallery to be opened at the Museum, you can now experience Ancient Worlds. A free exhibition of three new galleries, this extensive and diverse collection of archaeological finds explores the history of Manchester and the region, as well as ancient civilisations such as Greece, Rome & Egypt.

Uncover and Interact

Ancient Worlds showcases the best of our outstanding archaeology collections as well as revealing the people behind the objects: who made them, who used them, who lost and re-discovered them, who collected, classified and interpreted them. Drag your mouse over the artefact to the left for a 3D view.

Make sure you bring your smartphone with you. We’ve developed a cutting edge mobile experience to allow you to uncover more about the ancient world. Simply enter the Phoenician codes found around the galleries to unlock audio commentaries, image galleries and even interactive 3D models. Dig deep into Ancient Worlds and who knows what you will discover…
